Guitarist Yayoshi Junji has passed away

Guitarist Yayoshi Junji (49) passed away at a hospital on January 30th.

His management confirmed Yayoshi’s passing.  His management said that he had been fighting an illness for 2.5 years.  They did not announce the illness as they wanted to honor his wishes and they apologized for the sudden announcement.

Yayoshi’s funeral was held in his hometown with immediate family.

Yayoshi Junji was a guitarist for Shiina Ringo’s band Gyakutai Glycogen and was married to Shiina Ringo back in November 2000.  The couple had a son and later divorced in January 2002.

He would become a support guitarist for Kikkawa Koji and aiko and also worked on music arrangement.  According to those in the music industry, Yayoshi continued to work on music activities while he was fighting his illness.
