Sazae-san has three new sponsors

The Fuji TV anime series, “Sazae-san” has three new sponsors.

It was reported that the sponsors are Amazon Japan, Nishimatsuya Chen and Daiwa House.  The three were selected from 10 companies via bidding.

For those who wonder what the popularity of this series, as “The Simpsons” is a popular animated series in the US (and around the world) for being around since 1989, “Sazae-san” began way back in 1969 and holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest running animated television series in the world.

And it’s still popular and highly watched, that sponsors bid to become advertisers for the animated series.

On Twitter, Takasu of cosmetic surgery Takasu Clinic and Masuda Atsushi of LINE have revealed that they have failed to become a sponsor.

With the announcement of Amazon, there were many tweets of concern that Sazae-san will no longer go out to the city to shop (shopping is a big part of the series) because Amazon is a company that is Internet mail order.  Also, there were concerns if Mikawaya would still be featured in the anime series.

Meanwhile, Toshiba who was a long-time sponsor of Sazae-san since 1969 decided to terminate their contract in March of this year due to structural reform.
