On April 27th, “Marmalade Boy” will be released in theaters.

“Marmalade Boy” is a shojo manga by Yoshizumi Wataru and was published in Shueisha’s “Ribon” magazine from 1992-1995 and received a 76-episode anime adaptation by Toei Animation from 1994-1995.  And now it will be released as a live-action film.

The film is directed by Ryuichi Hiroki and starring in the film are Sakurai Hinako and Yoshizawa Ryo and it was recently announced that in charge of the theme song is the band GReeeeN.

GReeeeN is no stranger to working on theme songs for shojo manga film adaptations as the band was responsible for the 2007 hit theme song “Ai Uta” for the film “Strobe Edge”, which was also directed by Ryuichi Hiroki.  The song was popular enough to debut and peak at #2 on the Oricon Daily Singles Charts and #8 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

The theme song for “Marmalade Boy” will be a love song and will also be featured on the group’s eighth original album (title to be announced at a later time) to be released on April 11th.

Released earlier this month is GReeeeN’s latest single “Hello Kagero” which is the relay theme song for Fuji TV’s Pyeongchang Olympics.

For those not familiar with GReeeeN, the group is a Japanese pop rock/hip hop vocal group featuring Hide, Navi, 92 and Soh, while their music has dominated the charts, to this day, no one knows how the group looks like in order to protect their professional lives, as each member are pursuing a career as dentists.  Thus the reason their logo often features a mouth with teeth.

Back in January 24th, the group released their first single collection “ALL SINGLeeeeS ~ & New Beginning ~”.
