TV Asahi’s “Last Idol” Season 2 to allow viewers to vote online

It was decided that viewers will now get a chance to vote online for TV Asahi’s “Last Idol” Season 2.

The reality TV series is the project from AKB48G/46G producer Akimoto Yasushi and features what is an idol group known as “Last Idol” which has temporary members.  The idea is inspired by Korea’s reality shows “Produce 101” and “Sixteen”, which the popular group TWICE was born.

On December 20th, the first set of members of “Last Idol” released the single “Bandwagon”, the single would reach the #1 position nearly a month later on the Oricon Daily Chart on January 15th.  And on April 18th, a new single will be released.

But the concept of the second season is much different as it now features groups taking on other groups and the winner will be releasing a single on April 18th.

The second season will now feature five idol groups and one will via for a single release on April 18th.  Choux Cream Rockets is produced by Akimoto Yasushi, Good Tears is produced by Oda Tetsuro, Last Idol is produced by Komuro Tetsuya,  Someday Somewhere is produced by HKT48’s Sashihara Rino and Love Cocchi is produced by Tusnku.

This season, the series is hosted by Santamaria Yusuke and AKB48 Captain, Yokoyama Yui.

For season two, the first round features a round robin of all five groups and the top three will advance to the semi-final.    In the second round, the #2 and #3 team will compete and in the final, the team with the most wins (#1 team) will take on the winner of the second round semi-final.

In case of a tie on the show, a Final Judge is chosen.

The broadcast featured on February 17th featured Komuro Tetsuya’s “Last idol” in the lead with two wins, Tsunku’s “Love Cocchi”, Oda’s “Good Tears” and Akimoto’s “Choux Cream Rockets” with one win.

Because the groups must take part in a round-robin tournament, the possibility of a tie in the future is high. So, what will happen is that the series will hold a popular vote online, the popular vote will then be factored.  The voting period is only five days.
