Former AKB48 member, Watanabe Mayu (23), will star in her first major drama role post-AKB48 in TBS’ “Gan Shoumetsu no Wana” (The Cancer Elimination Trap).
The drama is an adaptation of Iwaki Kazuma’s award-winning novel of the same title. Iwaki who worked at the National Cancer Research Center and Radiological Research Institute, wrote a mystery story with “cancer” as the theme.
The drama will star Karasawa Toshiaki, Oikawa Mitsuhiro, Watabe Atsuro, Aso Kumiko and more.
Watanabe plays the role of an insurance investigator named Mizushima Ruriko who investigates possible fraud surrounding life insurance among cancer patients. She is investigating a patient that was examined by a doctor (portrayed by Karasawa Toshiaki) and possible receiving unfair insurance benefits. Mizushima reports to her direct supervisor, played by Oikawa Mitsuhiro.
The drama will begin airing on April 2nd at 8:00 p.m. on TBS.
