Keyakizaka46 captain Sugai Yuuka will continue on as an Equestrian Special Ambassador

Prior to joining Keyakizaka46, Sugai Yuuka, the captain of the idol group, has been competing in equestrian competitions.

Back in 2011, she placed second place in the All-Japan Junior 2011 Equestrian Children Riding Championships and to this day, even as a member of Keyakizaka46, she still competes.

And it was announced that Sugai will continue on as Equestrian Special Ambassador.

The role of the ambassador is to inform the public about the charm of equestrian competitions.

Sugai has been riding a horse since she was in fifth grade and worked hard to compete in equestrian competitions and she loves horses.  She even has a serialized column on “A to Zinba” titled “Love Horses, Love Riding”.

Sugai said, “I will continue on as an equestrian special ambassador.  When I heard that I would be appointed for a second year, I was very happy and filled with joy.  I am also very motivated to be involved in equestrian work this year and to be able to play a role of showcasing the charm of it.  I am very happy and motivated!  Last year, during a handshake event for Keyakizaka46, fans asked questions about horses and some even said, ‘I started horse riding’ or ‘I want to become a member of the equestrian club at my college’.  There were many moments that I felt I became more interested in equestrian activities from being special ambassador.  Because of this, I am very happy that I can become a force to let more people know about the appeal of equestrian even more.”
