On August 31st, “SUNNY tsuyoi kimochi – tsuyoi ai” will be released in theaters and is a remake of the 2011 film “Sunny” about a woman who tries to fulfill her dying friend’s wish of reuniting their group of high school friends (who were known as “Sunny”).
Directed by Ohne Hitoshi (“Bakuman”, “Scoop!”), the film will star Shinohara Ryoko, Hirose Suzu, Tomosaka Rie, Watanabe Naomi, Koike Eiko, Ikeda Elaiza, Yamamoto Maika, Noda Mio, Tanabe Momoko and Tomita Miu.
The film will show two different timelines as Shinohara Ryoko will be playing the character of Nami present time (2018), while Hirose Suzu will be playing Nami (90s). Yuko will be portrayed by Koike Eiko (2018) and Noda Mio will be playing the ’90s version. Kokoro will be played by Tomosaka Rie (2018) and Tanabe Momoko will be playing Kokoro (90s), Ume will be portrayed by Watanabe Naomi (2018) and the ’90s version will be played by Tomita Miu, Iitaya Yuka will play Serika (2018) and Yamamoto Maika will play the ’90s version. As for the character of Nana, Ikeda Elaiza will be playing the ’90s version but the person who will play the 2018 version is a mystery.
An Instagram post on the film’s official Instagram features the ’90s cast members in their school uniforms.
