In 2017, AKB48 changed formats with their Janken tournament (AKB48 Janken Taikai) by switching from a solo debut to an AKB48 Group Unit Janken Tournament.
Last years winner was fairy wink (Aramaki Misaki and Unjo Hirona), the winning unit got a solo debut, while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th raked units had a c/w song.
That format will continue in 2018 and the venue for this year’s event will be at Nihon Kogakuin College’s underground facility “Katayanagi Arena”.
The facility can hold a maximum capacity of 4,000 people and the reason for the new location is to prioritize traffic access and to choose a venue where it has never done at in the past.
The event (celebrating it’s ninth year) will be held on September 23rd.
