The final chapter of the GINTAMA manga set for September 15th

Since 2003, the popular manga series “GINTAMA” by Sorachi Hideaki, has been serialized on Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump”.

It was announced in issue no. 38 of “Weekly Shonen Jump” that the final chapter will be released on September 15th (“Weekly Shonen Jump” issue no. 42).

With a total of 74 volumes published, a total of 55 million copies of “GINTAMA” has been sold and while the anime series continues on along with two live-action films having been created, “GINTAMA” has entertained Jump readers for 15-years.

For long running “Weekly Shonen Jump” titles, Kishimoto Masashi’s “NARUTO” lasted 14 years, Kubo Tite’s “BLEACH” lasted for 16 years, Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi’s “Toriko” lasted for 8 years, Togashi Yoshihiro’s “HUNTER x HUNTER” has been around since 1998 but has been on several extended hiatuses and recently restarted in February 2018).

Currently, the longest running Jump series is Oda Eiichiro’s “ONE PIECE” which debuted back in 1997, while the previous longest running series was Akimoto Osamu’s “Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen Mae Hashutsujo” (a.k.a. Kochikame) which lasted from 1976 to 2016.
