Oguri Shun taking his career to Hollywood for “Godzilla vs. Kong”

Oguri Shun is no doubt one of Japan’s most popular actors and he will be taking his career to Hollywood for “Godzilla vs. Kong” slated for a 2020 release.

The film is directed by Adam Wingard (“The Guest”, “V/H/S” films) and stars Alexander Skarsgard (“True Blood”, “Straw Dogs”, “The Legend of Tarzan”) and Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things”, “Godzilla: Kings of the Monsters”) and is produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.

The upcoming film is the third film, which will follow a year after the 2019 sequel “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (which is a sequel to the 2014 “Godzilla” film) in which Godzilla takes on Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah.  The film stars Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler and Ken Watanabe.

As Watanabe Ken’s career in Hollywood began in 2003 with the film “The Last Samurai”, roles in Hollywood came his way as the antagonist Ra’s Al Ghul in “Batman Begins”, the Chairman in “Memoirs of a Geisha”, General Kuribayashi in “Letters from Iwo Jima”, “Godzilla” and even the voice of Drift for “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and “Transformers: The Last Knight”.

Will Oguri’s role in a big Hollywood action film lead to more roles Hollywood?

Oguri Shun has starred in well-known roles as Gintoki Sakata in “Gintama”, Captain Harlock in “Harlock: Space Pirate” and as Lupin in “Lupin the Third”.

So, hopefully we will see the beginning of something wonderful in Hollywood for Oguri Shun in the near future.
