Tohru Komukai and his bride-to-be, Komugi, move in with his family just until they find a place of their own. Or, that was the plan, until Tohru suddenly leaves for a long-term business trip overseas, leaving Komugi to fend for herself on her in-laws’ turf.
While Komugi is pretty, considerate and appears to be an ideal housewife, the truth is she doesn’t know how to do a lick of housework, and can’t cook at all. Also, she has a secret past as a member of an all-girls bosozoku biker gang! The only member of the family to learn these secrets is Dai, Tohru’s younger brother, and he helps Komugi keep up appearances until she can learn how to hold her own as a domestic goddess…

From manga artist Nemu Yoko comes “Futsutsuka Na Yome Desuga!” (to be released in the US as “The Delinquent Housewife!”), a manga series that will be released in North America courtesy of Vertical Comics.
The series revolves around a woman named Komugi who is marrying a man named Tohru and comes to stay with his family.
While she is welcomed by Tohru’s mother, his grandfather (who tends to be a bit perverted) and his younger brother Dai, his younger sister Yukari has no interest in welcoming Komugi to the family.
While the family prepares for Tohru and Komugi’s marriage, Tohru announces that he has to go on a business trip next week and Komugi will stay with his family and he’ll be back in a week.
While Komugi leaves at night, making the family think that she is working, one day Dai goes to the convenience store and sees Komugi. And she sees him slapping a guy and the guy gabbing her by her shirt. Dai comes to her rescue but then she tells him it’s not what he was thinking.
Dai learns that Komugi is actually a yankee and has no true skills to be a wife. She doesn’t know how to cook, do laundry, and she is depressed that Tohru’s family may find her useless.
But as Dai agrees to keep Komugi’s secret, his sister Yukari will do whatever she can to find out the truth or anything bad in order to prevent her brother from marrying Komugi.
The first volume of “The Delinquent Housewife!” is an introduction to the characters featured in “The Delinquent Housewife!” and is a storyline about a woman who is rough around the edges and knows how to fight, smoke and hang out with rough girls and now trying to put on a charade that she’s a loving wife and perfect wife material.
While Dai will do what he can to protect Komugi’s secret from the family and ensure that her marriage to his older brother Tohru goes through, his younger sister has a brother complex and will do all she can to make sure that Komugi doesn’t marry her older brother.
While we get to see Komugi try to fit in with Tohru’s family, we get to see her real life through her friends and how she has no true wife skills. But she hopes she can get by for the week, that is until she and Tohru’s family receive a shocking message.
For the most part, the storyline was entertaining. The artwork by Nemu Yoko is well done and she has her own distinct style of artwork. And while I enjoyed the first volume, I’m curious to see how the second volume goes and to see how the storyline progresses overtime.
