Dreams and hard work do come true!
Osaka Naomi (21) who was ranked #72 last year in the WTA is now the no. 1 after defeating Petra Kvitova (7-6, 5-7, 6-4) at the Australian Open. The win is her second consecutive Grand Slam and also becoming the first Japanese tennis player to become #1.
Also, not since Jennifer Capriati, back in 2001, has a player won their first & second Grand Slam titles at consecutive majors.
