Japanese netizens not digging the “Sonic the Movie” trailer

Sonic the Hedgehog is no doubt the iconic mascot for Sega.

Created by artist Oshima Naoto, designer Yasuhara Hirokazu and programmer Naka Yuji, a plethora of Sonic games and animated series was released.

And while the ’90s saw Sonic as the rival to Nintendo’s Mario, when it comes to live action films, Mario and Luigi were the first to have a live action film back in 1993 and has a reputation of being one of the worst films ever made (despite a cult following).

While another Mario film is being developed by Universal Pictures, Sonic the Hedgehog will be featured in a live-action animated film by Paramount Pictures.

And a trailer was released:

People wrote on social media:

Kimoi live-action Sonic

Very Kimoi

Sonic Kimoi. Would be better as an animated series.

Granted, this is only a few people vocal on SNS but we’ll have to wait and see once the movie comes out!

But we do have to agree…this guy’s version looks even better and closer to the original:
