Kodansha orders an additional 10,000 copies for Shiraishi Mai’s 2nd photobook “Passport” (25th edition), now reaching 360,000 copies total

Nogizaka46 member Shiraishi Mai’s 2nd photobook “Passport” is going on its second year (released back on February 7, 2017 by Kodansha) and the photobook shows no signs of waning.

In fact, Kodansha ordered another reprint of 10,000 copies for its 25th edition and now reaching 360,000 copies total which is very rare to see for a photobook that is two-years-old.

When the book was first released in Feb. 2017, there was only 100,000 copies made but it sold out on the first day of release.  The photobook was #1 on the Oricon sales ranking in 2017 and in 2018, it was still #7.

The sales of the photobook made Shiraishi Mai’s “Passport” the #1 women’s solo photo book of the century.

And while most photobooks are purchased by men, for Shiraishi Mai’s photobook, many of those purchasing are also women.

On the second anniversary of the photobook back in February, Shiraishi said, “I am very happy to be part of a project which has been loved for such a long time.  It is an important book that has become a turning point for me as well”.
