“Kujaku-Oh” (Peacock King) mangaka Ogino Makoto passed away

On May 10th, “Young Jump” announced that “Kujaku-Oh” (Peacock King) mangaka Ogino Makoto  has passed away on April 29th due to renal failure.

Ogino was 59-years-old and his funeral was held on May 8th and attended by close relatives.

Back in 1985, “Peacock King” was serialized in Shueisha’s “Weekly Young Jump” and was an award-winning title that lasted through 1989. His series was made into an OVA series and a live-action film in 1988.

He followed up with four more “Kujaku-Oh” series and was an honorary professor at the Shanghai Institue of Visual Art of Fudan University and Master of the Beijing DeTao Masters Academy.
