We attended the huge cosplay event, acosta! in Ikebukuro – Part 2

One of the thing that sticks out about acosta! is how it featured both amateur and professional cosplayers and whether a photographer has expensive equipment or not, they are gracious and in my experience, a bit kind.

Granted, I know when I went to the event, I felt a bit bad because I no longer carry around my DSLR and my lenses to far locations in Japan because of the amount of walking I tend to do (as I tend to go from one location to another) and lugging around my backpack along with a camera full of lends and lighting gear is a bit of a hassle.

Of course, in America, we drive and can keep our gear in our cars, but in Japan, you’re constantly on the move, riding on the train and depending on the photographer and how much gear you carry, it can really put a strain on your back and also become a workout (especially if it’s warm or hot outside).

So, In the past few years, I have moved on to portability and camera and lighting gear that is not as heavy, and gear that doesn’t force me to alter my schedule by heading back to offload my gear and choosing to find equipment, portable and light and good enough to keep in a single backpack.

While it’s not as great as my DSLR and my lenses, I was a bit worried because I had this smaller camera and basic LED lighting but I’m grateful to the cosplayers who were kind to give me their time to take their photos.  But grateful for the kind words from the photographers and for their patience and time.

As mentioned in the last post, despite heading off to the event earlier, I only had 2.5 hours of photoshoots, because I had to go to Tokyo Dome right after.  So, once again, I’m grateful to the cosplayers for their time and I hope to take their photos again!

More cosplay photos from acosta! to be posted in part 3!
