Higashide Masahiro makes an apology at a press conference for a documentary

Actor Higashide Masahiro was at the press conference for the documentary of “Mishima Yukio vs. Todai Zenkyoto 50-nen-me no Shinjitsu” on March 17th and right after the event, media ask to interview him and responded with an apology.

Higashide said, “I’m sorry for all the inconvenience and I’m sorry to the people involved. I feel terrible and I apologize to my wife. I would like to tell my wife and apologize to her directly. I don’t want to hurt my wife anymore by saying anything in front of the cameras, so I feel there are only so many things I can answer”.

Higashide then took on questions.

Q: Did you breakup with Karata?

Higashide said “yes”.

Q: Have you been able to speak to your wife Anne. When and where?

Higashide said, “I talked to her a few days ago. The setting was with a common friend but basically it was just the two of us. (Higashide delayed to answer). I’m very sorry. I betrayed her. I am very sorry”.

Q: When asked if they will maintain their marriage or get divorced?

Higashide couldn’t answer for ten seconds and said, “It overlaps of what I mentioned earlier, again, I’m very sorry, but I can’t answer right now because if I tell you my will and my wife watches it on TV, she will be hurt”.

Higashide said, “Sorry but I have a partner. I can’t answer because I’m going to hurt my wife if I talk to you now about this. I’m talking to you now with the bottom of my heart”.

Q: Do you want to repair the relationship?

Higashide said, “I’m sorry, I can’t speak for her here”.

Q: Why did you make this mistake?

Higashide said, “I was very selfish. I was thinking only about myself”.
