What happened to Watanabe Mayu?

Former AKB48 member turned TV talent, Watanabe Mayu has been missing from the entertainment scene for several months and her last post on Twitter was back on December 31st and on Instagram back in September. Watanabe didn’t host UTAGE back in February, which she had co-hosted alongside Nakai Masahiro since 2014.

The last mention of any entertainment news on her official website was for September 2019, while there was a post that her website’s customer support will be down for Golden Week posted on April 23rd.

Many fans wished Watanabe happy birthday on March 26th on SNS but there was no response.

We have seen a few AKB48 members go on break. Oshima Yuko suspended activities for a year while studying in the United States, but people were able to see her update with posts on Instagram. Miyazawa Sae also suspended activities for a shortwhile, while Morikawa Ayaka suspended activities as she got married and had a baby.

But there is concerns by the lack of announcements from Watanabe that has left fans wondering when Mayuyu will return?
