Yonezu Kenshi’s “STRAY SHEEP” (rel. on August 5th) has broken many Japanese music sales records

Yonezu Kenshi’s original album “STRAY SHEEP” has won 38 crowns, the first time in history and now putting the artist as the #1 male solo artist in various sales categories, as the album released on August 5th is smashing Japanese music records.

Yonezu took #1 in CD sales (daily and weekly), digital, package, download and streaming.

He becomes the first male solo artist to exceed 800,000 copies sold since T.M. Revolution accomplished it back in 1998 with “Triple Joker”.  It was the first major achievement in 22 years.

Billboard JAPAN Top Album Sales recorded the number of 880,000 which places Yonezu in the #1 position of male solo artist  in the major package rankings.  Also, winning the 1st place on the Billboard JAPAN Download Album Chart.

Oricon Charts records 1,015,000 in sales achieving over a million in sales for the first week, making Yonezu the first male solo artist to surpass a million in sales on the same week of release.

For digital downloads, it received 190,000 downloads becoming the first artist in Japan to surpass 100,000 digital downloads in the first week, placing him in the #1 spot.

For “Streaming Songs” for Billboard JAPAN, 22 songs were in the top 100 and the total number of played songs exceeded 70 million.  He also won 1st place for the four consecutive time on the Oricon Weekly Digital Single rankings.
