AnimeJapan 2019 – Convention Report Part 6 (22/7 – Nanabun no Nijuni)

Possibly one of my favorite highlights at AnimeJapan 2019 Day One was the performance of 22/7 (pronounced as Nanabun no Nijuni).

For those not familiar with the idol group, 22/7 is a Japanese idol group and anime series project by AKB48/Nogizaka46/IZ*ONE producer Akimoto Yasushi, Aniplex and Sony Music Records.

The group have released three singles “Boku wa Sonzai Shiteinakatta”, “Shampoo no Nioi ga Shita” and “Rikaisha” and appear on the variety show “22/7 Keisanchu”.

Each member of 22/7 provides the voice and motion capture for their characters and consists of the following members:

At AnimeJapan 2018, a sticker was distributed by 22/7 members featuring character designs and illustrations by Horiguchi Yukiko.

But as mentioned, one of the highlights for me was to see 22/7 perform.  And their performance at AnimeJapan 2019 definitely shows how far the group has come along since their appearance at Anime Expo 2018 in Los Angeles.  They are a much more cohesive group and everyone feels much more in sync when it comes to choreography and their live presentation and MC skills have also improved.

While the performance was not so long, it was a satisfying performance especially towards the end of day one which brought a lot of people to the Aniplex area.

Definitely check out their YouTube channel to know more about the group:

And of course, their official website.

My final AnimeJapan 2019 report will be coming out tomorrow!
