NGT48 performed at the “AKB48 Group Haru no Live Fes”, people in audience chanted “Mahahon”

NGT48 took to the stage for the “AKB48 Group Haru no Live Fes” (AKB48 Group Spring Live Festival) on the 27th and it was the first time people got to see the new NGT48 in action.

Members Nakai Rika (20), Ogino Yuka (20) and Homma Hinata (19) led the group of 17 people which include many first year members to perform.

Yamaguchi Maho (23), Sugahara Riko (18) and Hasegawa Rena (18) who are graduating in the group, did not appear at this event.

According to news reports and people attending the event, because it was raining during NGT48’s performance, 1/3 of the arena area was empty.  While there were fans reacting to the performance, overall NGT fandom calls were sparse.

But many were cheering “Mahohon” (Yamaguchi Maho’s nickname) during the performance.

After the performance, all members bowed to the audience.

The performance was no doubt important to see how fans are feeling towards NGT48 since Yamaguchi Maho was assaulted and hinted that NGT48 members were involved by giving her personal information to those who assaulted her.

Because of AKS and NGT48’s management response and making Yamaguchi the perpetrator trying to hurt NGT48, needless to say fans and people worldwide condemned management for their actions and fans have been on SNS trying to figure out which members of NGT48 were involved, despite management saying no members were involved.

To make matters worse, after the three members Yamaguchi, Sugahara and Nakagawa (who were also popular members) announced their graduation, because the three stood strong with each other, many other NGT48 members did not even offer the usual SNS response to the graduations of their fellow members and chose to remain quiet which upset NGT48 fans even more.

Needless to say, NGT48 has a long way to go to winning back their fans and if this event has shown, many fans are standing by Yamaguchi and friends.
