Suzuki Masayuki cancels performance right before the show due to illness

Japan’s “King of Love Songs”, Suzuki Masayuki (best known as the vocalist of Rats & Star, and his trademark sunglasses with mustache and beard) had to cancel a performance at Nakano Sun Plaza prior to it starting.

It was announced on the official website that Suzuki’s throat was not in good condition before the rehearsal and he and staff had repeated discussions that if he continues to perform, he will not deliver a satisfying performance and so it was decided that he had to postpone the show.

Suzuki was diagnosed by a doctor of having an “acute upper airway inflammation”.

Suzuki apologized that he had to cancel and wrote, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who had been looking forward to the show and for causing a great inconvenience and for worrying everyone and for also making a sudden announcement right before the start of the show”.  The performance has been changed to June 25 and the staff will be issuing refunds.

His performance at Omiya Sonic City on May 26th is still being scheduled.
