Miyazawa Sae signs with Horipro, reflects on the year she took a much needed break from entertainment

Former AKB48/SHN48/SKE48 member Miyazawa Sae now belongs to a major entertainment office, Horipro beginning on July 1st.

The announcement was made on June 20th and this is great news for Miyazawa who is starring in the musical “Peter Pan” after temporarily suspending all entertainment activities back in August 2018.

The entertainment office is where AKB48 members Itano Tomomi and Kasai Tomomi are also part of.  Miyazawa said that “Because there are people I know, it felt like coming back home.  I want to try various things, such as variety and acting”.

In an interview with Sankei Sports, Sae looked back at the year after she took a break from entertainment for a much needed charging period.

Having become an idol in her first year in high school and then acting right after graduating AKB48 in 2016, she kept going and going without a break.  This led to her going on a break back in August, suspending all entertainment activity.  Miyazawa said, “I am blessed to be given work, but I I asked myself, If I could continue doings this because I hate to work while feeling lethargic”.

While Miyazawa was on break, she took a course on pen calligraphy, she enjoyed watching movies and dramas that she wanted to see and was living a normal life.

Sae confessed that her brother gave her the will to come back thanks to a letter he wrote her.  Attending her older brother’s wedding back in November of last year, she saw a letter from her brother at the reception table, the letter read, “I know you want to take a break, but I want to see your work”… it was words from her brother that made her happy, it made her cry but right after, Sae wanted to resume her work again.

Actor Gishitani Goro, who worked with Sae on stage told her, “Everyone is waiting for you”.  And Sae got another push.

And so, Miyazawa returned to acting and will begin with “Peter Pan” on July 21st performing at the Saikuni Saitama Arts Theater.
