TOKIO’s Kokubun Taichi breaks down on live broadcast in regards to the passing of Kitagawa Johnny

With the passing of Kitagawa Johnny, the man behind Johnny’s, it was going to be evident that it would be a difficult morning for many of the members who are part of Johnny Jimusho and are hosts of various live shows.

Kokubun Taichi (44) of TOKIO, got his start with Johnny’s and worked his way from a background dancer for Hikaru Genji and eventually becoming a member of the band TOKIO in 1990 and then debuting in 1994.

Kokubun broke down on TBS “Vivito” which he is a co-host.

Discussing the passing of Kitagawa Johnny, Kokubun broke down when talking about the man who gave him the opportunity:

Kokubun talked about how he met Kitagawa at the age of 13 and has known him for 31 years.

Kitagawa Johnny passed away at the age of 87 and died from complications from a brain (subarachnoid) hemorrhage suffered back on June 18th.
