Many fans have wondered if seiyuu/singer Hirano Aya would comment on the Kyoto Animation arson fire in which 34 employees were killed and dozens injured.
Hirano is known for the seiyuu of main character character Suzumiya Haruhi (from the Suzumiya Haruhi series) and Konata Izumi in “Lucky Star”.

Hirano took to her blog and posted:
I’m sorry I was unable to update my SNS for the past few days.
I listened to the news while studying and learned about the tragedy with little information. Until now, I have kept silent because I did not want to say anything wrong without knowing the situation.
There is also the fact that I can not do anything as I felt shocked and a sense of loss.
Many media and fans requested a comment but it was a situation where my heard is unable to catch up at all.
I think everyone feels the same, and it’s hard to accept the reality.
“The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” and “Lucky Star” are works of Kyoto Animation that are important works for me. Works that have influenced me the most in my life.
Hirano ended with:
“The most important thing I know right now is to give top priority to the feelings of the victims. There is not much that we can do now, but I want to do what I can do real calmly. Animation is a part of Japanese culture. Creators are full of enthusiasm and talent, and the culture and art must never be destroyed by unreasonable evil. I think that common sense and conviction were flipped over this time. I sincerely pray for the quick recovery of all the victims and I can only pray and hope for the best”
“We are all feeling many various emotions. We are very sad and its mortifying. I don’t want anyone to feel defeated. I’m sorry, I’m unable to speak well about it”.
