On June 26th, COLOPL, Inc. announced that “Inappropriate transactions were carried out by COLOPL employees”.
The company suspected two of their employees, including a managerial position, were involved in a request made to a client to spend money on their game “Project Bable”, using 8.5 million yen taken by COLOPL with the aim of manipulating sales rankings and the client had spent the money on June 13th.
On August 13th, the results were released on the COLOPL, Inc. website.
The press release announced that their special investigation committee have found that inappropriate transactions were made by two employees, including a managerial position. According to the report, the transaction was made because he heard that manipulation of rankings are often done on overseas titles.
COLOPL will take this case seriously and will make every effort to prevent any recurrence and also to restore trust.
