Japanese media want answers from Karata Erika's family in regards to affair

In Japan, if a celebrity is involved in the scandal, the media immediately start asking for any family source for comments.

And for actress Karata Erika, who was involved in an affair with actor Higashide Masahiro, her family is now prime media targets.

Karata said through her management that she will reflect deeply on her indiscreet behavior and she will confront her own weakness and immaturity.

Karata is from Chiba prefecture an an acquaintance who lives near the Karata home was surprised when he heard about Karata Erika’s situation and said, “Because of the affair, her future career in entertainment will be difficult…. she was a beautiful girl in this neighborhood for a long time. She was scouted while working part-time at Mother Farm (a theme park in Chiba prefecture). When she debuted as an actress, her mother was so happy and a screeing of her movie was done at a local civic hall. Many came to show their support for Karata Erika. In January of last year, we had a huge screening of her film with Higashide at the civic hall and over a thousand people showed up. It was almost packed. She was on stage to greet everyone and the mayor gave her a bouquet”.

Another acquaintance of the Karata family said, “How will Karata explain to her family about this affair problem? Her grandfather is embarrassed by the news”.

Media went to Karata’s home and Karata’s grandfather responded. Is there any report from Erika about the report? Her grandfather answered, “I was told not to talk about that”.

Will she continue to do performing arts activities in the future? Her grandfather responded, “I’m entrusting her management for performing arts activities”.

What does her family think about this issue? Her grandfather said, “I’m sorry. No comment”.

The media reported that Karata betrayed the expectations of many people, her family, her neighbors and the price of what she did is too great.
