Shueisha announced that “Weekly Shonen Jump” no. 21 will be postponed as they await for editorial staff’s COVID-19 test

Shueisha announced on April 8th that a 40-year-old employee working for the editorial department at “Weekly Shonen Jump” was infected with the novel coronavirus.

It has been announced that the release of the digital version will be postponed for one week, while issue 20, will be released as scheduled on April 13th but issue 21 will be released on the 27 on the same week as issue 22 and will be a “Weekly Shonen Jump 21/22 Merger”.

The employee had a fever on April 2nd, he went to a medical institution to receive a PCR test. The staff member is not in direct contact with any of the mangaka but is quarantined at his home and are awaiting the results of the PCR test.

Shueisha employees are working from home as of April 6th to prevent the spread of infection, but considering the risk of transmission from editorial staff to mangaka and related parties, the entire editorial department of Weekly Shonen Jump will suspend their work temporarily.
