Shiraishi Mai graduates from Nogizaka46

Shiraishi Mai is an original member of Nogizaka46 and is one of the members that has helped popularize the idol group and helping the group surpass AKB48 in sales.

And now, Shiraishi Mai, the absolute ace of the group has graduated from Nogizaka46.

Shiraishi a.k.a. “Maiyan” is one of the members who created a trend of photobooks supported by women and her second photobook has exceeded 500,000 copies.  And in the nine years as an idol, Shiraishi Mai’s graduation concert “NOGIZAKA46 Mai Shiraishi Graduation Concert ~Always beside you~ held live on October 28th.

The concert was full of tears as original members that debuted alongside Shiraishi spoke to Shiraishi of how they will miss her.

Hoshino Minami said while crying, “Maiyan is like an older sister, I’m so lonely because she will no longer be with us”.  Ikuta Erika said, “I’m very lonely because we’ve been together for nine years, but we can’t say, ‘don’t go’.  I finally can see you off Maiyan.  I love you Maiyan”.

Originally scheduled to graduate on May 5-7 at Tokyo Dome, the concert was postponed due to the novel coronavirus, so the graduation date was postponed for over five months.

Shiraishi passed the first year audition for Nogizaka46 back on August 21, 2011, the day after her 19th birthday and made her debut with “Guru Guru Curtain” on February 12th and is the only member who has continuously been selected as “Fukujin” and was always featured in the 1st and 2nd rows including center for three singles: “Girls Rule”, “Synchronicity” and “Shiawase no Hogosyoku”.
