NMB48’s Yokono Sumire retires, All NMB48 activities will be terminated

Sumire Yokono (20) has retired from NMB48.

Yokono posted, “To everyone who has supported me, I Sumire Yokono have declined activities of NMB48. I’m sorry for the sudden announcement in this manner. I had various experiences in a blink of an eye during the three years I have been active as NMB48. I was really happy that I was able to fulfill my dream of being an idol since I was younger with NMB48 and that everyone who supported me, made me shine. I’m truly grateful. The memories and time spent with you is my treasure and I’ll never forget it. I will continue on a new path, with gratitude in my heart and move forward without stopping”.

While it was not stated why Yokono left the group, it is believed due to the tabloid coverage as Bunshun said that she and Kanjani Eight’s Yokoyama Yuu went to a luxury hotel and stayed overnight together. Another that she was going to a business hotel with Johnny’s Jr. member Fukuomoto Taisei.

Yokono has been the subject of many tabloid rumors of being seen together with other men. In one instance, saying the man was her childhood friend.
