AKB48’s Kashiwagi Yuki (29) is set to return to entertainment activities on her 30th birthday on July 15th. On that day, she will be recording a radio program for TOKYO FM’s “Kashiwagi Yuki YUKIRIN”.

Kashiwagi said she is looking forward to holding an online event on July 18th to commemorate the release of her 30-year-old commemorative photo book titled “Experience”, which will be released on her birthday.

AKB48 member Kashiwagi Yuki had been recuperating after undergoing a seven hour surgery on June 25th which was successful.

Kashiwagi appeared on TV Tokyo’s medical show on June 3rd and during the program, she had an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) where it was revealed that she had a spinal cord tumor.

On her YouTube and on Instagram, Kashiwagi has wrote for a long time about how she has been having pain and she was originally diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, because her left hand kept going numb.

Originally, when Kashiwagi had an MRI, the spinal cord appeared as gray, but now it appeared as white showing a possibility of syringomyelia.

According to Mayo Clinic, “Syringomyelia (sih-ring-go-my-E-lee-uh) is the development of a fluid-filled cyst (syrinx) within your spinal cord. Over time, the cyst can enlarge, damaging your spinal cord and causing pain, weakness and stiffness, among other symptoms”.

The doctor who appeared on the show recommended that she see a doctor and it was diagnosed by the doctor that the spinal cord tumor has accumulated fluid and is pressing on her nerves.

The doctor said that spinal cord tumors are 1 in 100,000 cases. Also, is a result of the doctor’s examination, it was found that Kashiwagi had numbness on her left leg and the left side of her body, so surgery was recommended.
