The Tokyo Olympics is no doubt having to endure a lot, with the postponement due to the novel coronavirus, scandals and now Tropical Storm Nepartak.
While the Olympics and its organizers have proven to endure, with the tropical storm approaching Honshu, it is expected to bring heavy showers on Tuesday or Wednesday (fortunately, it’s not strengthening to a typhoon).
The storm can easily impact outdoor Olympic events such as surfing and sailing as waves could be as high as 32 to 49 ft (19 to 15 meters) offshore.
Rowing events which will be held at Sea Forest Waterway in Tokyo Bay will be moved up to Sunday from Monday.
While for surfers, they welcome the higher winds and waves.
