With the fallout of director/actor Sakaki Hideo, who was outed by tabloid Bunshun, the topic of sexual assault, sexual and power harassment in the Japanese entertainment industry has become a major topic.
Sakaki has been accused of alleged forced sexual intercourse by multiple actresses (four women, who say it took place from 2013-2017), which was reported in “Shukan Bunshun” on March 9th. One woman said she was forced to have sexual intercourse in a parking lot after drinking together with him at a bar. Another actress said she wanted to star in a short film that he was directing and he took her to a love hotel in fear that she may lose her role in the film, if she refused. Sakaki threw her on the bed and had sex with her without contraception. She refused to have sex but Sakaki allegedly did not listen and wouldn’t stop. The actress fell into depression and was forced to undergo medical treatment afterward.
Sakaki acknowledged that the article had facts and non-facts, but the fall out has since led to his management contract being canceled and his business alliance with Ruby-sue being canceled.
And now an actor who has appeared in seven of Sakaki films, Kinoshita Houka (58) is now embroiled in allegations by two actresses according to Bunshun for sexual assault.
According to the allegations, Kinoshita reportedly asked them to have sexual intercourse with him.
One woman was called to Kinoshita’s home for the purpose of “acting instructions”. She was reading a script with two people but was scolded by Kinoshita who said to her “Why can’t you do it?”. The actress started crying.
Kinoshita then took her to a bedroom and said, “It’s okay, come here”. He allegedly pulled down his pants and pushed her face towards his genitals.
The victim said, “I was forced to act by mouth in a destructive manner. If I resisted, he might do something worse. I thought it would be safer to do what he said, so it would end soon”.
Another actress said she ended up having sex with Kinoshita.
The victim said, “He is as old as my parents and I felt uncomfortable. I couldn’t do anything with my strength, if I refused, there would be bad rumors about me. I was told ‘everyone is doing it’. I couldn’t refuse, I just wanted to act as an actress”.
Kinoshita can be seen on television and was also appointed as first ambassador of the Japan Bone Marrow Bank and appeared on a CM. He recently appeared in the NHK drama “Sojiki Fudosan” (Honest Real Estate) with Yamashita Tomohisa.
According to the writer of the article, he has contacted Kinoshita’s agency Cactus on March 20th, a letter was sent to the president of the company and also tried contacting Kinoshita via cell phone for interviews and has not received a response.
