AKB48 members apologize on Twitter for “interrupting history”

It was a big blow when AKB48 was omitted from the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen (they were omitted again this year), but now the members of the idol group are apologizing on Twitter for not being included on the list for the “Excellence Award” for the 64th Japan Record Award.

AKB48, who had won the Excellence Award for 12 years in a row, was not included in the list, and their consecutive record is broken.

AKB48 Mukaichi Mion and Okada Nana have posted on Twitter.

Mukaichi wrote, “I am full of apologies to the fans who support AKB48 and to the many people who have supported us.
I’m sorry for making you sad and for interrupting history”.

Okada Nana wrote, “It’s precisely because I feel that I’ve been supported by so many fans that I couldn’t live up to their expectations, and my heart is filled with frustration, apology, and mixed emotions. I’m sorry, but I’ll continue to move forward without forgetting to be grateful every day, so please watch over me”.

Fans have responded with support, “Don’t be so depressed”, “you can’t carry everything on your back”, “we will all support you”, “you don’t have to apologize”.
