Kojo Seara was told that her unborn child had a 50% chance that he may have Down’s Syndrome

Back in August, former AKB48/SDN48 member Kojo Seara gave birth to her second child, a baby boy.

But Kojo confessed that while she was receiving tests, she was told that her son had a 50% chance of having Down’s Syndrome.

In a YouTube video released on the 28th, she confessed that a doctor who happened to see her during her 9th week of pregnancy pointed out a thickened NT in her fetus. At this point, her doctor told her there was a 50% chance she had Down syndrome.

(*) NT (Nuchal Translucency) is a black area that appears on the posterior neck of the fetus during ultrasonography.

Until then, Kojo, who had thought that the baby was growing well, was troubled by the sudden indication, and consulted with her husband many times. She was then referred to another hospital with a prenatal diagnosis specialist and, after an initial ultrasound, underwent the definitive chorionic villus test of the six proposed tests.

As a result, it seems that her son did not have any chromosomal abnormalities, but there was a point of concern in his growth process, and the possibility of Noonan syndrome, a designated intractable disease, emerged.

She also revealed that she is currently waiting for an appointment with a letter of referral to a large hospital that can treat Noonan Syndrome.

On the 29th, Mr. Mitsugami thanked the video viewers through his blog. While publishing the echo photos of the time when it was pointed out that NT was thickened, it was reported in the initial ultrasound examination that there was a high possibility that it was not abnormal, saying, “There are children with this type, but I don’t think there is any problem”.

She also revealed that he was recommended to undergo a definitive test just in case, saying, “I’m sure it will be fine, but it might be okay to do an amniocentesis test”.
