ME:I TSUZUMI announces long-term hiatus due to being diagnosed with adjustment disorder

On the 3rd, it was announced on the group’s official website that TSUZUMI, a member of the 11-member girl group ME:I, which debuted in April, will be taking a long-term hiatus.

The site announced, under the title “Announcement of TSUZUMI’s Long-Term Hiatus”, that “We would like to inform you that our member TSUZUMI has been diagnosed with adjustment disorder and will be taking a long-term hiatus”.

The site explained, “After repeated discussions with TSUZUMI, the agency staff, and her doctor, and after confirming her health condition, she resumed her activities with her recent appearance on stage at KCON LA 2024, but after returning to Japan and undergoing a medical examination, she was diagnosed as above, so after discussing the situation with herself and the relevant parties, we have come to this announcement”.

“TSUZUMI will continue to follow the instructions of her doctor and focus on treatment. We hope to be able to announce her return as soon as we have a prospect for her return.” He concluded, “We apologize to all fans and related parties for the concern, but we ask for your understanding. We appreciate your continued support for ME:I”.

ME:I was born from the survival audition program “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS” (commonly known as Nipu Girls/Nipu). They made their major debut on April 17th. TSUZUMI is 17 years old, born on January 22nd, 2007, and is the youngest member of the group. On July 1st, she announced that she would be taking a break from activities for a while due to poor health. She returned at “KCON LA 2024” (held July 26th-28th).
