Matsuda Seiko’s new album “Seiko Memories – Masaaki Omura Works” to be released on February 28th

Back in 1980, Matsuda Seiko debuted as an idol.

At the age of 46, Omura Masaaki was a composer/arranger who worked with Matsuda Seiko, crafting many of her early top hits.

And now, Matsuda Seiko pays respect to Omura by releasing a 3 CD set titled “SEIKO MEMORIES ~ Masaaki Omura Works~ on February 28th.

There will be bonus tracks, songs which Omura composed before his death (1997) and also a rearranged version of “Sakura no En” (Sakura Garden). Matsumoto Takashi, a songwriter kept a copy of the composition just in case Seiko someday would sing it.

Pop star/songwriter Makihara Noriyuki, who was a big fan of Omura’s work, will be in charge or rearrangement.

The new album will contain 46 songs including songs such as “Mafuyu no koibito-tachi” and “Seychelle no yuhi”. Also, included is a booklet with special contributions from Matsuda Seiko Matsumoto Takashi, Makihara Noriyuki and more.

Matsuda on her upcoming album said, “Omura-san handled numerous works that are countless. A lot of Omura’s songs including “SWEET MEMORIES” are important treasures for me and Makihara Noriyuki arranged “Mafuyu no Koibito-tachi”. Hoping Omura receives it in heaven”.

Makihara commented, “I thought that the rearrangement for this song made me think if this would work. At first, I was worried. But it is an honor to be involved in Matsuda Seiko’s work and an honor to be able to touch Omura Masaaki’s work, as he is my favorite and most respected arranger. I’m really happy if you like it and I’m grateful for the opportunity”.

Matsumoto Takashi said, “Omura was not only an excellent arranger, he was a great composer with extraordinary talent. It has been 20 years since his death and I think it would be wonderful if a musician such as Omura Masaaki, who was a pioneer in the producer boom, takes the spotlight.”
