Amuse releases statement to confirm that Miura Haruma died of suicide and the facts of what transpired on the day of his death

Amuse, the entertainment office of Miura Haruma has confirmed that Miura had died of suicide and the facts of what transpired on the day of his death.

The statement released on September 4th is as follows:

The manager in charge of picking him up at his home at the scheduled time for him to go to work which was scheduled in the afternoon. He didn’t receive a reply by e-mail or phone, so he decided to go to his home and rang the intercom, but yet there was no response.

The management of the complex was contacted and opened the room with their key to enter the room and Miura was found unconscious.

While giving first aid, police was contacted immediately and the ambulance arrived and he was taken to the hospital but passed away at 14:10 not needing any lifesaving measures.

As a result of the police investigation, it was reported from the autopsy result that the cause of death was suicide.

It is reported that he did arrive to the scheduled shooting site, so the manager was suspicious and he went to check him at home but that is not the facts. The manager was to pick him up to take him to work.

As a result of the police investigation, a notebook in which he spelled out various thoughts of roles were found at his home but there was no will. In the notebook, there is no content that is directly linked to the motive or cause of suicide and there was no suicide note that was left for fans, staff or fellow artists.

Regarding how to proceed with work, when one receives an offer to perform and the schedule, these are carefully discussed and considered between the artist and the manager in charge each time. There was an article in some media reports that “The manager instructed me to stop studying abroad and return back to Japan” but that is not the fact.

We are receiving many messages from many fans each day for a “memorial site” so they can visit a place to deliver their thoughts. We are planning to hold a “farewell party” by the end of 2020, so that it will be a place full of love for everyone who has supported him. We are observing the schedule and method of implementation while looking at the spread of the novel coronavirus infection, so we will inform you as soon as details are decided.

Even today, on the 49th day, we are deeply saddened by the reality of losing an irreplaceable artist and an important friend and we are taking our responsibility seriously. We will continue to strive to create a better environment in order to protect the physical and mental health of our artist and staff.

To all the fans, I sincerely hope that his work and his appearance will continue to shine among you.
