Mnet’s “Produce48” episode 9 will be airing in an hour.

The show originally began with 48 trainees from South Korea (from CNC Entertainment, YGKPLUS, Cube Entertainment, FNC Entertainment, MNH Entertainment, RBW Entertainment, Million Market, Banana Culture Entertainment, Well Made Yedang, HOW Entertainment, Urban Works, YueHwa Entertainment, A Team, MMO Entertainment, MND17, FENT, Woollim Entertainment, Music Works, 8D Creative, WM Entertainment, Block Berry Creative, STARSHIP, STONE Music, PLEDIS and ZB Label) and 48 trainees from Japan (AKB48G: AKB48, AKB48 Team 8, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48 and NGT48),

The trainees were then trimmed down to 57 (Matsui Jurina of SKE48 had to bow out due to poor physical condition) trainees. Last Friday’s episode will feature the trainees trimmed down to 30.

Prior to the elimination, groups were created to participate in the Concept Evaluation competition where they will sing and dance to various concepts.  But the problem is that many of the groups practiced among their team prior to the elimination.

Post-elimination, that means that many of the teams have lost many members and will need to be assigned to different teams.

Host Lee Seung-gi will be paying a visit to the various trainee groups.  The episode 9 teaser shows that perhaps, things are not going so well.

“Produce48” has started and host Lee Seung-gi is explaining to the team that they will need to vote as the eliminations have changed the Concept Evaluation teams and other members will have to leave their team to join another in order to fill up space.

The teams will need to vote who will stay and those with the least votes (with too many people), will need to move to another group.

Miho Miyazaki’s team had the largest loss of members, she is the only one left of her team.  The teaser kind of showed us who will be moving over to her team.

So far, numerous emotional moments as team members who liked their concept and their group finding out they must move to another group.

AKB48’s Goto Moe was the first to be cut from Team “Rollin’ Rollin'”.  AKB48’s Shitao Miu was cut from Team “Rumor”, WM’s Lee Chaeyon was the next and she took it hard devastated mainly because her confidence has taken a dive since “Very Very Very”, HKT48’s Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Minju was kicked out of their group, Kim Minju wanted to be in “Let’s Meet Again” but the team chose Sakura.

Host Lee Seung-gi came to meet with all the groups and wanted to hear their frustrations and Goto Moe was the first who told Lee Seung-Gi how she is feeling lost and restless and if he has ever felt that way?

Takeuchi Miyu asked Seung-gi about her popularity ranking plummeting.  Lee Seung-gi gave positive comments to both Goto and Takeuchi, who you can tell were devastated and were in tears.

What we are seeing is how groups are selecting their leaders, their centers, their main vocalist and really utilizing the iPad to figure out where they need to work on.

Unfortunately, there is unease with certain groups but mostly among individual people who feel the stress of their lower ranking, wanting their spotlight to shine.  But now that it’s more competitive among the Top 30, of course, those in the top positions are just as hungry to be #1.  So, it will no doubt be a tough situation.

For Team Rollin’ Rollin’, Honda Hitomi took it a little hard that she wasn’t chosen as center (Jang Won Young was selected) but she did get a lot of props from the trainers.  Kim Na Young needs to work on her vocals, she’s lacking confidence and will need to bring her energy up.

Lee Chaeyon was ahead and did well for her group but unfortunately, because of the selection process, she was among one of the few who was selected to move to the yellow team (Miyazaki Miho’s 1000% group).

Lee Kaeun and Ahn Yujin, showing us why she deserves to be center for her group!  Takahashi Juri gets teased to make a formal greeting, team leader Lee Gaeun, feeling the pressure!  But Juri got good marks on her rap but Lee Kaeun was told that she was doing things too sexy and her rap sounded too much like Juri’s.

Miyawaki Sakura is ecstatic about her new team.  Even better, they have Park Haeyoon as main vocalist!  Lee Daehwi (of Produce 101 Season 2 and member of Wanna One) meets Miyawaki Sakura.

Sakura was happy to join her new group as she loved the song.  While Sakura tried out for center unreluctantly, Wang Yireon was chosen.  Wang Yireon made a few mental mistakes and she took the brunt from judges.  She was told, she’s the center and that her singing was terrible.  Poor Wang Yireon, she lost her confidence.

Lee Daehwi felt that while recording, Wang Yireon would be good for recording, he felt Sakura would have the better presence on stage.

Goeun is selected as the main vocalist by music producers.  But part of the problem is trying to get the high note, similar to what a trainee did back in season 1 of “Produce 101”.

The biggest surprise so far is Chowon, not only can she sing, she can rap!

Lee Chaeyon vs. Miyazaki Miho and Lee Chaeyon is a much powerful singer, she becomes the main vocalist.

Lee Chaeyon talked about why she didn’t become the center, she said to be a center you must be confident and pretty and she feels she is not confident nor pretty.  But the judges gave her magnificent remarks about her vocals and dance.

Minju was also give positive remarks.  Everyone on the group did very well!

Now all the ladies are getting glammed up and this time performing for an even larger audience! WOW!

The Rumor team is shown about to perform, extravagant…but what a tease! We’ll have to wait until episode 10 next week!

Even bigger shock, Miyazaki Miho surpasses Miyawaki Sakura in the votes.  She is now #1.
