It was announced that “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “500 Days of Summer” director Marc Webb will be directing the Hollywood live-action adaptation of Shinkai Makoto’s animated film “Kimi no Na Wa.” (Your Name.).
Paramount and J.J. Abram’s Bad Robot acquired the remake rights from Toho, who will be a partner for the upcoming film and will be handling distribution of the film in Japan. Kawamura Genki who produced the animated film will be producing along with Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams.
The re-imagined version is about a Native American woman living in a rural area and a young man from Chicago discovering they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. The two must go on a journey to meet, while protecting what is most important to them.
