GACKT's deep response to the spread of the coronavirus in Japan

When it comes to the spread of the coronavirus, we have seen various celebrities have their take. We have seen YOSHIKI plead with Prime Minister Abe to consider declaring an emergency (which he would do a week later) and now GACKT’s response is turning heads on SNS.

GACKT is currently preparing to perform live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and on an interview for a live broadcast of “Shokugeki! Shinsou Sakagami” on Fuji TV, April 9th, when asked about the current situation in Japan, Gack said, “It’s crazy. The people’s response to the crisis is too weak compared to other countries”.

GACKT continued, “There are many countries in the world where the spread of infection is uncontrollable such as New York and Italy. Other countries think that if this situation continues, so will Japan”.

When asked about the people who are leaving their homes and are still going out, GACKT replied, “Many people think only about themselves”.

Comments to Gackt’s response on SNS were as follows:

GACKT’s words were heavy. We rest because we have a sense of security, but we should not rest, because what’s happening is dangerous. If you can’t take a break (stay at home) because you don’t have a sense of security, just know that there are people dying of the virus”.

As the infection spreads, people will die. People need to understand the importance of life. Life is important. Your life and the lives of others are important. I want many people to understand GACKT’s feelings.

I was impressed by GACKT. Please take action to protect human lives throughout Japan. A virus is more intense than a large typhoon.
