“Gokusen 2002 Special Edition” was broadcasted on television for the first time in 18 years on June 3rd with a drama rating of 12.7%. Showing how popular the drama is after 18 years!
The drama is an adaptation of the manga series by Morimoto Kozueko which stars Nakama Yukie as Yamaguchi Kumiko, the granddaughter of a yakuza boss and teacher at an all-male private school (she teaches a class full of delinquents). While her grandfather approves of her decision to achieve her lifelong goal of being a teacher, others in the family feel she should be the next boss. Yamaguchi tries to keep her family a secret from the public.
