“Grand Blue” live-action film to be released on August 7th

The live-action movie adaptation “Grand Blue” which was originally supposed to be released on May 29th is set for an August 7th release.

The film is based on writer Inoue Kenji and illustrator Yoshioka Kimitake’s manga series which has been serialized in Kodansha’s “good! Afternoon” since April 2014.  An anime series adaptation aired from July-September 2018.

The series revolves around Kitahara Iori, who chose to attend Izu University and live with his uncle and cousins.

When Iori arrives, hoping to focus on Mechanical Engineering and have a normal life, he finds out his uncle Toshio owns a diving shop known as Grand Blue.

He is also surprised that his cousin Nanaka has grown up to be beautiful (and voluptuous) and her sister, his other cousin, is serious about her studies.

But while Iori hopes for a peaceful time in Izu, immediately he knows something is awfully weird when he finds two men inside the dive shop completely nude.  The men who also attend college are part of the Peek a Boo Dive Club and all they do is get drunk, nude and play games that members are often nude.

And when they start forcing Iori to become one of them, despite his resistance, they get him drunk the night before school.

When Iori wakes up, he has nothing on but his boxers and shorts and attends his first day of school with no clothes.  Rumors spread throughout the college about the student who got so drunk that he becomes a laughing stock.

To make matters worse, his cousin Chisa thinks he’s a lecherous person because of it.  When he asks members if they can give him a t-shirt, they agree if he brings in a member to a dive club.

Iori’s classmate and a person he doesn’t get along with off the bat, Kohei Imamura, is a hardcore otaku and having his own harem of girls, is duped by Iori to join the club when he tells them there are many girls in the club.

Now both guys are roped in to the club, forced to drink a lot of alcohol and get naked.

But the partying starts to concern his cousins because he’s often out and passed out.

Will Iori be able to focus on college and why are the guys of the Dive Club so insistent that he become a member?
