With the STEAM sale of Capcom’s “Monster Hunter: World” bringing the game to under $10, the number of players playing the game on New Year’s Day was 131,964.

This is the highest number of people playing the game since October 2020 and was the 12th most played game on New Year’s Day which is an accomplishment for a game that was released over five years ago.

According to SteamDB, the number of players has been steadily increasing since the direct sequel Monster Hunter Wild was announced at The Game Awards on December 7th. Furthermore, the fact that it is being sold for less than $10, the lowest price in history, in the Steam sale until January 4th also has an impact. The expansion pack “Iceborne” is currently on sale for less than $15, giving you hundreds of hours of fun.

“World” is attracting so much attention is because it is a much more complex game compared to the relatively simplified Nintendo Switch “Rise”. The upcoming “Wild” is essentially considered by many as the sequel to “Monster Hunter: World”.
