Wada Akiko presented with a Guinness Book of World Records for “Longest amount of years of being the same host of a live variety show” (34 Years 357 Days)

Wada Akiko (70) received a Guiness World Records certification as featured on her variety show “Akko ni Omakase!” (special 35th anniversary episode aired on September 27th).

Wada was presented with a Guinness Book of Worlds Records certification for the longest amount of years of being the same host of a live variety show for 34 years and 357 days.

Wada Akiko began hosting the TBS variety show “Akko ni Omakase!” since 1985.

Wada said, “I’m impressed. I can’t do it alone. It’s the same with everyone who came out today and thanks to everyone who is watching on television.  Thank you.”.

Morita “Tamori-san” Kazuyoshi  (75) made a surprise appearance and translated in Japanese to Wada of the Guiness Book of World Records accomplishment. Tamori appeared on the show for the first time in 28 years (the last time he was on was back in January 1992).

Tamori currently has a Guiness Book of World Records (2003) for the “Highest Number of Broadcasts by the Same Host in a Live Variety Show” for “Morita Kazuyoshi Hours Warette Iitomo” back in 2002 with 5,000 broadcasts which has been around since 1982 (ended in 2014).  On March 2014, Tamori was awarded with a Guiness Book of World Records for “Most Recorded Live Broadcast for a Variety Program” (8001 episode) and “The Most Recorded Number of Program Broadcasts” (8,054 episodes).
