EXILE’s ATSUSHI to release his first solo single featuring a Japanese cover of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” on April 11th

It was announced that EXILE’s ATSUSHI would be releasing his first solo single on April 11th.

The single will be a Japanese cover of Bruno Mars’ popular hit “Just the Way You Are”.

Bruno Mars released “Just the Way You Are” (his first single) back in July 2010 and was the #1 single in various countries and was certified platinum 9x by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

ATSUSHI is a big fan of Bruno Mars’ work and Atsushi has said Bruno Mars is “one of the most talented artists in the world.  If I can sing this famous piece in Japanese, the thought that many feelings are conveyed to the hearts of the Japanese people and a warm message can be delivered”.

ATSUSHI came to Washington D.C. to watch Bruno Mars perform last year and met Bruno Mars for the first time.

Bruno Mars commented, “I’m very happy to meet a big star in Japan and I’m very proud of him having covered my song ‘Just the Way You Are’.  Thank you!”.

The two took a photo together and ATSUSHI presented Bruno Mars with a gift of sake.

Later that year, while ATSUSHI was recording music in Los Angeles, Bruno Mars sent a bottle of rum to ATSUSHI.

The upcoming single will also feature ATSUSHI singing along with Boyz II Men’s Nathan Morris including three songs in English and were produced overseas.  The DVD will feature four music videos shot in New York and Los Angeles.
