Hibiya Chanter’s “Nemu no Hiroba” becomes “Hibiya Godzilla Square” and TOHO unveils a new Shin Godzilla statue

Shopping complex Hibiya Chanter is celebrating their 30th anniversary and while many have flocked to the area known as Nemu no Hiroba (or Hibiya’s Chanter Square) to see the Godzilla statue near TOHO Cinema.

But as TOHO Co., Ltd. announced the renovations to its commercial facility, the square has been named “Hibiya Godzilla Square” and on March 22nd, a new Godzilla statue was unveiled.

At nearly 10 feet (3 meters), the new statue is derived from the 2016 film “Shin Godzilla”, while the older 1995 statue derived from the film “Godzilla vs. Destoroyah” will be relocated to the ToHo Cinemas Hibiya which will open on March 29th.

It has been 64 years since the first “Godzilla” film was released back in 1954.

As for “Hibiya Godzilla Square”, TOHO plans to make Hibiya, a city destination for movies, plays, a Japanese Broadway and also where people can purchase tickets to neighboring theaters. In addition, a ローチケ HIBIYA TICKET BOX will open in the area.
