Why is Dream5’s Ōhara Yūno in Tokyo Girls’ Style’s new music video?

Dream5’s Ōhara Yūno is the one of the more popular people in Japan at this time.

Ranking #1 with her photo book on Amazon and featured in numerous commercials and magazines, Ohara appears in Tokyo Girls’ Style’s new music video “Hatsukoi” (First Love).

But why is Ōhara in Tokyo Girls’ Style’s (Tokyo Joshi Ryu) new music video?

While there was no schedule to shoot a video for “Hatsukoi”, TGS member Shoji Mei said they wanted a video that would make a lot of people listen to this wonderful song. And so production to make a video was decided on immediately and the members planned to appear in the music video.

But lead vocalist Arai Hitomi had acute bronchitis and their concert “Tokyo Joshi Ryu ‘DISCOGRAPHY’ CASE OF TGS” at Blitz Akasaka was canceled, with the three members performing a free live.

Because the video shoot was scheduled during the time when Arai Hitomi was still getting well from her illness, it was not possible for the members to shoot the music video.  But the members of Tokyo Girls’ Style were close friends with Ōhara Yūno, she was considered.  Also, Ōhara’s real life situation of having to travel from Kagoshima to Tokyo mirrored the story of the music video.

So, on February 17th, the video was shot.

TGS member Yamabe Miyu wrote on her Instagram, “Thank you very much Yuno, I really appreciate it.  I hope you all see it on YouTube!”
