Ohtaka Shinobu’s “Orient” coming to Weekly Shonen Magazine on May 30th

With the completion of “Magi” in “Young Gangan” back in October 2017, Ohtaka Shinobu’s new series titled Orient” is slated for a May 30th release and will be serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine”.

“Orient” willl be a fantasy tale taking place during Japan’s Sengoku period (Warring States Period, 1467-1603).

Ohtaka created “Akumachi” which would win the “Grand Prize” award at the 2003 “2nd Enix Manga Award” sponsored by Square Enix”.  The work which would be known as “Akumachi” would be published as a one-shot in September 2003, and the then-19-year-old Ohtaka would make her official debut as a manga artist.

Ohtaka Shinobu is best known for her “Magi” (2009-2017) and her manga series “Sumomomo Momomo ~Chyousai no Kyou no Yome” (2004-2009) manga series.  Both manga received anime adaptations and were hits.  She has sold a cumulative 25 million copies of her manga.
