Aqua Timez is breaking up

Rock band Aqua Timez announced on their official website that the band will be breaking up within a year.

Vocalist Futoshi said, “We decided that Aqua Timez will breakup after activities in 2018.  It is the conclusion that all members in the band have discussed.  We apologize to all our fans.  Sorry.”

Along with Futoshi, band members OKP-STAR (Bass), Daisuke (Guitar), mayuko (Keyboard) and Tasshi (Drums) posted a message about the band’s breakup on their official website.

Drummer Tasshi gave insight to why the members wanted to breakup.

Tasshi said, “When we finished making our last album, the members had a different feeling than usual.  It was a feeling that we were burned out after we were done.  After that, we started to talk over and over again and after discussion, we realized we can no longer make music of Aqua Timez in the future with the same passion as before.  So, it was decided that we can’t continue on with activities feeling like this”.

The band will performing on a nationwide tour titled “Present is a Present tour2018” through September 1st.

Aqua Timez was formed back in 2003 and made their major label debut on April 2006.  Their best performing singles were “Niji” (2008) which was used for the theme song for the drama “Gokusen” and “Velonica” (2009) which was used as an opening theme for the anime “Bleach”.

The band performed on NHK’s “Kouhaku Uta Gassen” in 2006 and 2007.
